From BASIC to Billions: My Journey as a Tech Pioneer
Born in 1977 near New York City, my tech journey began at age 9, coding in BASIC on an Epson 8088. By '94, I was applying to college by stapling my AOL website to a signed paper and submitting them as my college applications.
After a brief period at NYU and despite skipping two years, I chose to dive directly into the DotCom market, the first of two technology revolutions that I'd participate in. And the second one is just starting.
Early Days: Coding, Colleges, and the Dotcom Boom
First Code at Nine
My journey into the tech world began at the age of 9, writing BASIC code on an Epson 8088. I learned by copying from a book and experimenting with variables. It was a time of exploration and discovery, laying the foundation for my future career.
Ahead of My Time
In 1994, my college application process was innovative, sending a link to my AOL website with application details, a signed note, and a check. This was a forward-thinking approach, leveraging technology to stand out from the crowd.
Diving into Dotcom
After a brief period at NYU, I left college to fully immerse myself in the dotCom boom. By 20 I was making significant strides, first working at Chase Bank and then at MTV, setting the stage for my ascent in the tech industry.
